Modular Radio Station
This set apparently uses some of the same modules as in the
Delco 5300 - note the layout of the knobs on the receiver, transmitter, and
antenna-matching modules; and compare to the 5300 model. It is 'modular' in
that there are two of each of the major modules in the unit. The modules select
different frequency bands, power outputs, and power supply options. The
circuitry to support AM operation was not carried over from the Delco 5300,
hence this radio operates CW only.
Reportedly the same radio was adopted by the military as the
PRC-52 - one version of the PRC-52 tunes 3-16 MC, while another tunes 16-32 MC.
A 5-watt amplifier for it is the AM-2855, while the 15-watt amplifier is an
AM-2856.
